Thankfulness
As we are in the midst of the Holiday season, Kim and I have been reflecting on the past year. As most of you, this year has had many highs and some lows. Through it all, we have found that God has been right there with us providing for our needs through your partnership in prayer and finances. We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you. Knowing that you are praying for us is such a huge encouragement. It is also very humbling. We can say as the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 1:3-5, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Your partnership allows Kim and I to do what God has called us to do.
As I was reflecting on being thankful for God’s provision, I came across Psalm 118:1 which says, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” I have read this verse many times, but I don’t think I ever really thought about what it means that the Lord’s “steadfast love endures forever”.
The definition of steadfast is resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. Meditate on that for a minute. God’s resolutely and dutifully firm and unwavering love endures forever. God’s love for you never wavers. It is also there. It has no end since it endures forever. This God who knows you intimately. He knows everything you’ve done wrong and every time you have failed. He even knows every thought you have ever had. Even though He knows everything about you and every thought you have had, He still loves you. Not only does he love you, but his resolute, unwavering love endures and never ends. God’s love is not like our love. Our love does waver, no matter how much we wish it didn’t. God’s enduring love is why we give thanks to the Lord in the first part of the verse. That same enduring love is why God sent His Son to pay the price for our sin on the cross. As we celebrate this season commemorating Jesus’ incarnation, remember that he came because of God’s unwavering love for you and for me and that that same love never ends.
Praise!
In the last few weeks, we have had two churches that have started to support us. That puts us currently at 53% of the total support needed. Please continue to pray for us and the churches and people we will meet with in the future as we continue to raise the financial support needed. Pray that we would clearly articulate the ministry God has called us to engage in and that people would be led to support us.
